Gunmen suspected of being terrorists assaulted the Gurbin Maganiya hamlet in the Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing at least three people.
Three other people were hurt in the attack, which occurred on Saturday night.
Muntari Naqawuri, Surajo Salisu, and Musa Hassan were among those killed in the incident, while Mustapha Salisu, Basiru Abubakar, and Muhammed Rabi’u were among those injured, according to local sources.
The gunmen arrived on motorbikes just after 10 p.m. and began searching homes, according to reports.
Following a distress call about the incident, the Nigerian Army and local vigilantes were alleged to have been dispatched to the community.
The security officials’ action is claimed to have prevented the terrorists from causing further damage to the neighborhood, since they were eventually repelled.
The terrorists had already killed three people and injured three more before the security officials arrived, according to the sources.
Residents, on the other hand, revealed that the three dead victims’ bodies had already been buried according to Islamic rituals, and that those who were injured were being treated in a Jibia hospital.
A unified security force was also discovered to be patrolling the neighborhood.
