Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential contender, has reacted to the court’s declaration on Thursday that he is the National Chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC).
InsightnaijaTV reports that the Court of Appeal in Abuja confirmed Sowore as the party’s National Chairman.
In its order on Thursday, the court stated that a 2019 High Court decision removing Sowore as the chairman of AAC was outside of the court’s authority and that it was an internal matter.
In a ruling issued in 2019, Justice Iyang Ekwo determined that Sowore had been suspended by the party’s National Executive Committee.
The Appeal Court, on the other hand, overturned the decision on Thursday and named Sowore as the new national chairman, replacing Leonard Nzenwa.
The applicants were later awarded a sum of N200,000 by the court.
Sowore reacted to the news by taking to Twitter to congratulate members of the party and declare that revolutionary people cannot be defeated.
