Mr. Ibrahim Magu and seven other Commissioners of Police (CPs) have been promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police by the Police Service Commission (PSC) (AIG)

PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, stated this in an Abuja statement on Monday.
Abraham Ayim, Okunlola Kamaldeen, Andrew Amieengheme, Akeera Younous, Celestine Elumelu, Ngozi Onadeko, and Danladi Lalas are among the newly elevated CPs.
The panel also validated Mr. John Amadi’s appointment as a substantive Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and named Mr. Zama Senchi as DIG, according to Ani.
He explained that Amadi was appointed in an acting capacity to replace the late Joseph Egbunike, who died while serving as DIG and representing the Force Management team in the South East.
According to Ani, Amadi is the substantive representation of the South East in the Force Management Team, whereas Senchi is the most senior in the AIG cadre, as confirmed by the confirmation.
The commission’s 15th Plenary Meeting authorized the promotions and appointments, according to a PSC official.
The Commission also authorized the promotions of 23 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to CPs, 31 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to DCPs, and 63 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) to ACPs, according to him.
He said that 57 Superintendents of Police had been passed over for advancement when their colleagues were promoted to the next rank of Chief Superintendents.
