Yesterday’s carousing reception for president Muhammadu Buhari has put to end the unmeasured emotions about his popularity amongst the masses. The man can comfortably go into any election and still pull his ‘standby’ 15 million votes. He is still stoutly rooted in the heart of those who genuinely love him. Underrate the man at your peril.

As Ortom wishes Buhari hitch-free campaign in Benue – The Sun Nigeria

Plenty editorials on how the man has lost it with the masses, they rant on radio and ‘commentarize’ on TV on how the popularity that greeted him in 2015 has disappeared and transmuted into hate. He said nothing while biding his time. The time came, he flew to Borno – his traditional home where the people dropped whatever they were hinged on to welcome him. He got his usual reception that is bookmarked with tumultuous, exhilarating and joyous splendour. For them, this man made it possible for them to have peace, for his sincere commitment to ending the war, he invested heavily in the war and result is the peaceful Borno they have today. The people showed appreciation when he visited them not commiserate with them but to commission projects!

Then came the Kaduna uproar, sea of human heads, cacophonous ululation, shoves and pushes all to catch the glimpse of their August visitor in January. From kafanchan to Rigasa to Kaduna metropolis, it was assemblages of citizens spontaneously drawn by love and admiration for their president. The last time a sitting president visited Kafanchan was perhaps during the military era- this time, not just a presidential visit but a visit to commission landmark projects. So impressed were the people that the main opposition party in Nigeria had to heartily join in congratulating and welcoming the president! Indeed the good moon shines brilliantly on everyone.

The man can comfortably go into any election and still pull his ‘standby’ 15 million votes. He is still stoutly rooted in the heart of those who genuinely love him. Underrate the man at your peril.

When the days come in tomorrow, the people would remember him as the one who made things otherwise considered impossible possible. They said it was damn difficult to have the rail system work ever in Nigeria. The man proved them wrong by reviving the Nigerian rail system 40 years after it went comatose. Late Nnamdi Azikiwe would gyrate in ancestral fulfilment with Buhari’s commitment to making reality the 2nd Niger Bridge. The next generation of Igbo kids would rise to see the true definition of tangible governance. What defied years to complete took Buhari six years to have it completed. Hail the king even though you don’t like his face, he is a just king.

Late intellectual sage Chief Obafemi Awolowo would be so happy and fulfilled that trains could move his people from Lagos to Abeokuta and the Lagos Ibadan expressway finally got constructed. The kind of governance he craved for is being delivered and in rested peace, he dwells now.

Elder statesman, Joseph Tafa would be in high spirit in his eternal abode right now as the roads from Keffi -Akwanga – Makurdi -Oweto through Ankpa to Ibbi down to Calabar are wearing pleasant looks. The man they all chorused a failure made all these possible and it is no doubt that his popularity as tested in just Borno and Kaduna remains fascinatingly intact. You can’t take it away from him, Buhari is the king of the masses.

Unfadingly musing

First off I want to say terrific blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before writing. I have had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out. I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or tips? Cheers!
