In the Idoji section of Kogi State’s Okene Local Government Area, an explosion killed one person and injured a huge number of others.
The event happened at 6 p.m. on Thursday, according to the Daily Post.
The latest blast in Okene came just days after a similar explosion at Kabba’s bear parlour, which injured 11 people.
According to a local resident named Usman Animuko Sani, the explosion occurred when a group of people, including masquerades, gathered to celebrate the annual Echane festival in Okene.
Many individuals in the region were shocked by the explosion’s loudness, according to Sani, who added that one man, whose name and address have yet to be released, lost two legs and that many more were hurt.
He further stated that one of the explosion victims died while being transported to Okengwe General Hospital for medical treatment.
He went on to say that when the victims arrived at the hospital, some of them were referred to Lokoja.
In a telephone discussion with newsmen, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, confirmed the occurrence, saying that there was an explosion in Okene that injured some individuals.
According to the PPRO, preliminary information reaching him suggested that one of the blast victims died in the hospital.
He went on to say that the Commissioner of Police for Kogi State Command, CP Edward Egbuka, has dispatched a bomb expert to the scene of the explosion to figure out what caused it.
