A Customs officer was killed and another was abducted on Tuesday in Fagbohun village, Idogo/Ipaja, in the Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, by suspected smugglers.
When the officers from the Federal Operations Unit came in the village for an operation, the incident occurred.
When the smugglers saw the patrol squad, they reportedly poured horror on them, with two cops going missing in the ensuing battle.
The bodies of one of the officers were discovered in a river near the village of Ajegun Iyaloosa, while the other was still missing.
Due to the tragedy, residents of Fagbohun village are alleged to have departed the quiet settlement.
“The officers were on information patrol when they were attacked,” said FOU Zone A Public Relations Officer Theophilus Duniya, who confirmed the event. One person was killed in an unprovoked attack, while the other is still missing.
“The one that was found dead, his rifle was missing; but we can’t say for the other one that is still missing until we get to the end of it. At the moment, we have some suspects in custody in relation to that murder.”
