The well-known Quilox Club on Ozumba Mbadwe Street in Victoria Island has been closed by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) because to “noise pollution.”

According to Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, CEO of LASEPA, the club owned by House of Representatives member Shina Peller was shut down on Sunday for violating rules regarding the organisation of events and failing to obtain a sound control permit. The agency had received distress calls and video evidence from worried neighbours to support their claims about alleged environmental nuisances committed by the club.

Dr. Fasawe stated: “Lagos had earlier increased the decibels to accommodate leisure/hospitality business interests. We, however, urged them to apply for sound control permits before hosting events to enable us to reach out to the host community of the intended programme and further deploy our officials to the venue for proper monitoring and prevention of excessive noise pollution,” She elaborated.

She claimed that Quilox Club received an invitation just like every other stakeholder, but for reasons the management alone knows, it was ignored.

No person or organisation, she said, “is bigger than society,” and the agency is still working to make sure that everyone’s interests are safeguarded by the law.

She goes on to remind the public that LASEPA also keeps an eye on various companies to make sure that their trade-offs (electrical and electronic trash) are disposed of in a way that is ecologically responsible. After production, some businesses just pour the leftover material into water or dump it in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. It makes the fish sick. Eating poisonous fish puts us at risk for developing cancer. Because they consume harmful fish from the ocean, some people who do not smoke can develop cancer.
