The death of Dr. Joseph Kabungo, the doping doctor for the Confederation of African Football, has caused concern.
Kabungo, a Zambian doctor, was alleged to have died shortly after Ghana eliminated Nigeria from the 2022 World Cup qualifying round on Tuesday.
According to accounts, Kabungo died as a result of a stampede inside the Moshood Abiola National Stadium prior to the start of the match.
Another account, on the other hand, blamed the doctor’s death on the supporters’ invasion of the pitch after the game.
Osasu Obayiuwana, a British-Nigerian journalist, tweeted that the doctor’s death had been confirmed after he was brought to the hospital.
The death of the doctor has not been confirmed by the Nigeria Football Federation or the Confederation of African Football.
Kabungo’s family, the Zambia Football Association, and the Zambian government have all been informed, according to reports.

“His name is Dr Joseph Kabungo from Zambia. He was on duty as Doping officer. He collapsed suddenly and died. Cause of death not confirmed yet. His family, the Zambia FA and the government of Zambia have been duly informed.
“If the death of #Zambian doctor Dr Joseph Kabungo at the #Abuja stadium was caused by being attacked by the #Nigerian fans who invaded the pitch, after the @NGSuperEagles lost the

Collins Atta Poku, a Ghanaian sports journalist who was also present at the play, claimed that the doctor was battered to death.
While replying Osasu’s tweet, he posted, “They beat him, he fell and they throded on him. He lost consciousness was rushed to an ambulance closer to the Ghana dressing for CPR. The entire Ghanaian contingent watched on as resuscitation attempts were made with oxygen mask. He was taken to hospital later and now this. Sad.”
Former Mufulira Wanderers goalkeeper and Chongwe and Siavonga District Chief Health Medical Officer, the deceased was also a former Mufulira Wanderers goalkeeper.
His UNZA classmates dubbed him “Walter Zenga” after the renowned Italian goalkeeper.
Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup championships in Qatar, InsightnaijaTV reports, after the Super Eagles drew 1-1 with Ghana’s Black Stars on Tuesday.
Nigeria’s quest for a seventh World Cup appearance was hampered by a stalemate in this home leg of the qualifying competition’s playoff round.
Both teams drew 0-0 in the first leg at Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Friday.
The Super Eagles needed an outright victory in Abuja’s Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
