According to Jihad Analytics’ newest data, Nigeria has surpassed Iraq as the country with the highest number of Islamic State attacks (IS).
Jihad Analytics, as seen by InsightnaijaTV, is a consultancy that processes data on worldwide and cyber jihad.
According to Jihad Analytics, Africa has been the scene of half of IS’s strikes since the beginning of 2022.
The Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), an IS branch, is now carrying out additional attacks in Nigeria, according to the report.
According to the research, Nigeria has registered 162 IS operations since January 2022, while Iraq has documented 120.
Jihad Analytics wrote on Twitter Friday, “In a post on Twitter on Friday, Jihad Analytics wrote: “Since the beginning of the year, the Islamic State has conducted half of its attacks in #Africa.
“For the first time in the history of the jihadi group, Iraq is no longer the country where #IS claims the highest number of operations: the group #ISWAP is now more active in Nigeria.”
ISWAP has been terrorizing Nigeria’s northeast with more severe strikes since it split from Boko Haram.
Thousands of people have died as a result of the horrific group attacks, and many more have been displaced.
Attacks on military installations have been carried out by ISWAP, which is based in Nigeria’s Lake Chad region.
Members of Boko Haram, led by the late Abubakar Shekau, have also been attacked by the group.
