On Saturday, a student at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, was discovered dead in his room, hanging from the ceiling.
In the early hours of Saturday, the deceased student, Joseph Olona, who was believed to have committed suicide at his off-campus lodge located in Akure’s Aule axis after failing to answer calls and taps on his door, was found by his close friends.

Although the cause of the death is uncertain, it was said that the Industrial Design student committed suicide because of depression brought on by money issues.
He said, “Suicide kinda answers all, it’s the only thing that listens and trusts You when You left all to yourself. Good night and Goodbye”, in a post on his Facebook page on October 8, 2022. Goodbye and good night.
The state’s police spokeswoman, SP Funmi Odunlami, confirmed that the event was a suicide and said that an inquiry had started to determine what motivated the man to take his own life.
