The eNaira speed wallet application has been removed from the Google Play Store, 48 hours after the digital currency was introduced.
InsightnaijaTV reported that President Muhammadu Buhari unveiled the Central Bank digital currency on Monday.
The west African country became the first on the continent to create a central bank digital currency as a result of the development (CBDC).
The CBN issued the digital currency, which is a digital version of the naira that is stored in the eNaira wallet, which is a secure wallet.
Nigerians had downloaded the speed wallet for eNaira on Google Play store as of Wednesday, following the president’s announcement.
According to a statement on the eNaira website, interested users can join up for the eNaira speed wallet by submitting their BVN registration credentials.
First and last names, date of birth, state of origin, and email address are all included in the information.
“Your Banks are waiting to assist you in validating and updating your BVN details to ensure seamless enrolment to the eNaira Platform,” the statement reads.
On Wednesday evening, however, the eNaira speed wallet was unavailable for download, but the eNaira merchant wallet was.
The CBN has not to respond to the development as of the time of posting this story.
