The Personal Assistant to Femi Osibona said to have been recovered dead from the rubble of the 21-storey building at Ikoyi, Lagos, only resumed work on Friday, three days before the incident.
The 26-year-old Onyinye Enekwe was also said to be engaged and planning for her marriage billed to hold next month.
Enekwe, whose relatives confirmed that she started working with the developer and left home on Monday for work at the high-rise building, has not been seen since there.
But on Tuesday night, rescuers recovered the body of a young woman believed to be Enekwe’s.
Although her younger, Dave Enekwe, dismissed news of her death and appealed for prayers for her, Nigerians on social media have started mourning her.
He wrote: “Guys this is my immediate elder sister. She recently just got this job. Y’all should please pray for her. Pray for her to keep fighting. She will survive…she’s not dead yet.”
Her cousin, Chinedu Enekwe, who also confirmed Onyinye worked with the company, said: “Monday was the last time anyone in my family saw my cousin Onyinye before she headed off to work at the now collapsed Four Scores building in Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria. No one should have to go through this, no family should be kept in the dark.”
A graduate from the Anamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, the native of Ajali in Anambra State, attended Baptist Science Grammar School, Jos in Plateau State.
Unconfirmed information indicated that the new job, which came with a salary of N150, 000 per month, also provided her accommodation on the island to reduce transportation cost.
On her Facebook page, friends prayed that reports about her death were false just as torrents of tributes poured on her Instagram page.
