Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, indicated Wednesday that he was unconcerned about other presidential candidates running on the APC platform (APC).
He stated that he will be the party’s flagbearer.
Bello, who was responding to a query at the ongoing Second GYB Annual Seminar for Political and Crime Correspondents and Editors, reaffirmed that all evidence showed that he was in the best position to lead the APC to victory in the 2023 election.
As party elders and founding fathers, he honored Rotimi Amaechi, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
He explained that, while these aspirants are founding fathers, the foundation of a home was insufficient to build the house because other elements needed to be in place for it to stand.
Bello remarked this while maintaining his belief that he had the best chance of winning the APC presidential ticket.
“To answer your question, whether I am scared of other contestants for the presidency, I will say No; I am not scared of anybody in the contest for the APC presidential ticket.
“They are founding members of the APC, but foundation is not enough. I will defeat all the other aspirants because I have all it takes to be a champion. My performance in Kogi State will speak for me,” he noted.
