Orji Uzor Kalu, Senate Chief Whip and former Governor of Abia State, has stated why he wants to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart indicated that the country’s predicament influenced his decision to run for president in 2023.
Recalls from InsightnaijaTV Kalu earlier denied any interest in the president in 2023, but soon changed his mind and stated his aspiration.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the Senator was asked why he changed his mind about running for president, and he stated the circumstances in all parts of the country prompted him to declare an interest.
He said, “It was circumstance from the South-East, South-West, North-West, North-Central, and North-East that made me decide to join the race. I was governor with him (Tinubu), there is nothing difficult in challenging anybody.”
As previously reported by InsightnaijaTV, Kalu, who defined himself as a “recognized billionaire,” declared that the presidential ambition of the All Progressives Congress National Leader, Bola Tinubu, is not a danger to his own presidential quest.
When asked if Tinubu posed a threat, the former governor stated, “No! and I am not a threat to his ambition. By the time we meet in Eagles Square, this issue will be settled.
“Mind you, politics is not only about money; it is about the people you are going to govern … the people of the north-west, the people of north-east, the people of north-central, the people of the south-east, the people of the south-west, and the people of south-south, and we have the people. I can move the people and the people are with me.”
