Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the Northern Elders Forum’s (NEF) national director of publicity and advocacy, has declared that he will back the Obi/Datti ticket if they are the most qualified candidates for the 2023 presidential election. Hakeem’s younger brother, Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, is the Labour Party’s vice presidential candidate.
Dr. Hakeem, who made this revelation in an appearance with Politics Today on Channels TV, said “I can only root for Obi and my younger brother Datti if they are the best candidates. You know I’m working on a project with Northern Elders Forum, which gives all the candidates a level playing ground.”

He continued by saying that many Nigerians would lose their right to vote due to insecurity, either because INEC cannot deploy for election-related functions or because people are unable to move freely.
There is a significant issue that needs to be resolved swiftly, he continued. If you look at the South East, you will see that IPOB, unidentified gunmen, and other targets are moving freely. Because some people are setting INEC facilities on fire, citizens are being denied the right to vote.
