Bashir El-Rufai, the son of Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State, has cautioned the All Progressives Congress not to refuse Bola Tinubu, the party’s national leader, the party’s presidential ticket in 2023.
Bashir made the remark in response to Tinubu’s remarks made to delegates of the party in Ogun State on Thursday.
Tinubu, who sought the support of state delegates, said that it was the South turn, West’s and that he would take over the presidency in 2023.
The former Lagos State Governor stated that he is the best candidate to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari when his term ends.
In response to the statement, Bashir warned that if Tinubu is not given the presidential ticket in 2023, the ruling party will collapse.
There have been rumours that if Tinubu fails to obtain the APC presidential ticket, he may defect to the Social Democratic Party.
“If this man doesn’t get this ticket, this “party” as we know it immediately ceases to exist as a single entity,” Bashir wrote on Twitter on Friday.
