According to the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) Osun National Committee for State House of Assembly, 87 people have purchased forms to contest the state assembly’s 26 seats in the upcoming general election.
The committee made the announcement on Tuesday, as it began reviewing contenders for the 26 seats in the state assembly.
According to the chairman of the committee, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, 81 of the hopefuls bought their forms in Osun State, while the other six bought them in Abuja.
The national leadership entrusted the committee the duty of vetting the party’s House of Assembly candidates, according to Ize-Iyamu, who spoke with the media before the screening procedure began.
He stated that the committee has a specific criteria that applicants must meet in order to vote and get voted for.
“There are constitutional requirements and party requirements. Basically, we want to be sure they are Nigerian citizens, local government certificates, age and educational qualifications.”
