Barcelona‘s agonising 1-0 loss to Inter Milan at San Siro on Tuesday night has caused them to fall far behind in their Champions League group. With three games remaining in the group stage, Barça is now in danger of once again qualifying for the Europa League after playing their worst game of the season for 65 minutes but having chances at the end and being denied a chance to score the equaliser by a terrible VAR decision.

The video assistant referee (VAR) has come under fire from Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez after his team’s 1-0 Champions League loss against Inter Milan.
After his team lost two handball judgments at the San Siro, Xavi vented his rage at what he deemed injustice.
Barça got out to a strong start, controlling possession and forcing Inter to defend deeply and use long balls to try to escape their half. Though they didn’t generate any genuine chances, the Blaugrana were unquestionably the superior team in the opening 15 minutes.

In stoppage time of the first half, Hakan Calhanoglu scored what turned out to be the winning goal. However, there was controversy around the outcome of the game when Barca had a goal disallowed for handball and then was denied a late penalty after Denzel Dumfries appeared to handle the ball inside the penalty area.
What we have witnessed is unfair, and I am furious and indignant about it.
The referees need to come out and explain themselves because I don’t understand anything, as I said on Monday and must reiterate today.
After the game, Xavi told to reporters, “[The referee] didn’t want to give me an explanation.” Referees must speak; I am not allowed to discuss a decision that I have not yet made. The choices were unmistakable to me. I have no idea what that means.
Both Xavi Hernández and Marcos Alonso stated in the news conference prior to the march that the game against Inter was crucial for the team.
