As the rate of sexual violence continues to rise in the Country, stakeholders have suggested life imprisonment and death sentence as punishment to perpetrators.
The meeting which was organised by a non Governmental Organisation, Woman Rights and Health Project, WRAPH, was aimed at sensitising women and girls on their sexual rights and gender based violence in the community.
Vice Chairman, Community Development Council and Vice Woman President of Mosan Okunola, Mrs Jumoke Rotimi said the solution to SGBV is continuous education and sensitization of women and girls to be bold in reporting cases of Sexual violence by breaking the culture of silence and reporting to the right quarters.
She urged women to care for their Children especially the young girls as they suffer the problem more than their male counterparts.
Monitoring and Evaluation officer at WRAPH Mrs Abisoye Ajose said the aimed of the meeting was to follow up on the previous meetings held, in January where over one hundred and twenty cases of Sexual and gender based violence was recorded and attended to.
Ajose called on Government at all levels and Civil Society Organizations to intensify efforts in fighting sexual and gender based violence to reduce it to the barest.
