Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, appeared to soften his stance on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) problem on Tuesday, October 04, 2022 after meeting with PDP Board of Trustees members at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Wike stated that he was committed to bringing about peace inside the PDP.
The existence of peace is crucial, according to Wike. “We are one house. Because I am still here, I have faith that we will find a solution.
“Only those who are alive are hopeful. We have said repeatedly that we will not leave the party. We believe the internal issues will be resolved.”
Adolphus Wabara, the interim chairman of the BoT, also suggested that the negotiations had advanced.

Wabara responded, “We’re not done yet. Peacemaking is challenging. However, his side has been heard. It’s still one big family. Peace will soon be achieved.
After Atiku defeated the governor of Rivers State in the PDP primaries in May and won the party’s nomination for president, Wike and his allies had been calling for Iyorchia Ayu’s resignation for months.
Northerners cannot occupy the two top positions in the biggest opposition party, according to Wike and his supporters.
Ayu purportedly stated in October 2021 that he would step down as chairman if the area produced the PDP presidential candidate.
The chairman has steadfastly refused to leave, saying that he will serve out the remainder of his four-year term.
