Civil servants and the general public were excluded from entering government facilities in Abuja on Wednesday unless they had confirmation of immunization and a negative PCR test.
Remember that the Presidential Steering Committee on Covid-19 decided that beginning December 1, civil servants would not be permitted to visit their offices unless they can show proof of vaccination.
Boss Mustapha, the committee’s chairman and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, said the decision was made in the best interests of Nigerians and to prevent the pandemic from spreading across the country.
”Federal Government employees shall be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination, or present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result done within 72 hours to gain access to their offices in all locations within Nigeria and our Missions”.
The Nigerian Association of Senior Civil Officials, on the other hand, has asked the federal government to extend the deadline for civil servants’ mandatory immunization till March of next year.
However, workers were observed crowded around the gates of various government offices in Abuja, where they were only permitted to enter after providing confirmation of vaccination.
