According to the Presidental spokesperson, Dele Alake, President Bola Tinubu will address Nigerians at 7 p.m. today (Monday). “Television, radio stations, and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast,” he stated.
As of the time of publication, the broadcast’s agenda was unknown, however it is possible that it could address the economic hardships that Nigerians are currently facing as a result of the loss of petrol subsidies.

The unprecedented fuel prices coincide with the naira’s floating, but as the economy suffers, the Tinubu administration announced its plan to provide N8,000 in palliative subsidies to 12 million households for a period of six months. However, the announcement drew sharp criticism, and the Federal Government later reversed course and ordered a review of the plan.
The Tinubu administration has been given a seven-day deadline to reverse “all anti-poor” measures, including the increase in the price of petrol, according to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
In response to the labour union’s rejection of the incoming administration’s proposed palliative, the federal government was warned with a countrywide protest starting on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, if the necessary action was not taken.
