Staff writer for Time 100 Astha Rajvanshi has reportedly shut her Twitter account in response to complaints she has received for included Bola Tinubu, the president-elect of Nigeria, on the most recent Time 100 list of the world’s most influential people.

For the piece she authored for Tinubu, which portrayed him as a “longtime political power broker” and his contributions to restoring Nigeria’s democracy in 1999, Rajvanshi faced a barrage of criticism on social media.

Some Nigerian youths have also criticised Tinubu’s inclusion on the Time 100 list, claiming that given the ongoing controversy surrounding his election victory and his alleged contribution to the nation’s economic problems, he did not deserve the recognition.
