Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, has approved the appointment of Mr. Olajide Isiaka Lawal as the General Manager of Radio Lagos/Eko FM, effective immediately. The appointment followed the statutory retirement of the Agency’s former General Manager, Mrs. Ayo Shotonwa, on October 8, 2021.
Prior to his appointment, Lawal was the Head of the Public Affairs Unit at the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture.
The appointment was based on Mr. Governor’s faith in the appointee’s demonstrated dedication to quality service delivery in the field of communication, according to a statement signed by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
Muri-Okunola asked the General Manager to lead the Agency to new heights, noting that Lawal had served in more than 12 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies throughout his 25 years with the Lagos State Government.
Lawal began his career in the Lagos State Public Service on December 23, 1994, and ascended through the ranks to the position of Deputy Director (Public Affairs) before being appointed General Manager.
The new GM is a skilled Public Relations and Advertising professional with a Master’s Degree in Legal Studies to go along with his Mass Communication credentials.
Muri-Okunola also praised the former General Manager for creating a highly engaged team at Radio Lagos and laying a solid platform for the organization’s future growth, praising her for her dedicated service to Lagos State.
