Ramires, a former midfielder for Chelsea, has given up playing in the league.
The midfielder made the announcement this afternoon on social media. He thanked the clubs he played for before thinking back on “conquering the world” after leaving Brazil to pursue a successful playing career.
His 248 appearances for the Blues between 2010 and 2016 and participation in their Champions League-winning team in 2012 are what made him most famous.
After some thought, I would like to let you know that I have formally decided to terminate my career as a professional football player, Ramires announced in a social media video highlighting his career highlights.

‘At this point, I can only thank God first for having trained me and led me to the highest levels that sport can offer. Many thanks also to all the clubs I went through, I will always carry you and your fans in my heart.
‘Gratitude also to the Brazilian Football Team for giving me the pleasure of playing two World Cups, which was a dream come true. Also grateful to all the teammates, employees, coaches and directors that I had the pleasure to work with.
“To my family, mother, children, brothers and true friends, thank you so much for being by my side unconditionally during all these years, vibrating for my every achievement as if it were yours, which has always been my greatest strength and motivation”.
“I will go in other directions, but with the same happiness and courage that I had since I was little, when, against all expectations, I left my city in the countryside of Rio de Janeiro to conquer the world. Thanks for everything, football!’
Before joining Benfica in 2009, Ramires started his career in his native Brazil.

He was hired by Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea a year later, and in his first season there, he was a member of the team that won the league championship.
He scored at the Nou Camp in the Blues’ semi-final victory over Barcelona, playing a crucial part in the team’s 2012 Champions League victory.
In total, he struck 33 goals for Chelsea, including a goal against Liverpool in the FA Cup final that helped his team win the cup that year.
He signed with Jiangsu in China in January 2016 before leaving the team again to join Palmeiras in 2019.
However, he quit the team in 2020 and hasn’t played since. 52 times were spent playing for Brazil.
After Mikel John Obi, another former Chelsea midfielder, announced his retirement yesterday, he did the same.
