As Muslim Faithful commences this year’s Ramadan, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu wants them to continue to love their neighbours and prioritize the welfare of the needy.
He gave the advice in Alausa Ikeja during a Tafsir (lecture) and prayers to usher in the month of Ramadan and the 30-day mandatory fast for all Muslim Faithful.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat also enjoined them to obey all covid-19 safety protocols and sued for peaceful coexistence in the State
In an address of welcome, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Elegushi appealed to the faithful to avail themselves of the training and serenity that Ramadan affords to cleanse their hearts and enrich their souls with virtues and re-dedicate themselves to the good of humanity and the development and progress of Lagos and the Country.
In a lecture on the purpose of life, an Islamic Schorlar, Dr Ishiaq Zuglu harped on the needs for believers to live their lives in a manner pleasing to God, while Dr. Saeid Ahmad, a surgeon at the Lagos State University College of Medicine, Ikeja, lectured on availing the teachings of Ramadan for a peaceful and progressive society amidst covid-19 challenges.
The Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheik Sulaiman Abou-Nolla led prayers for the President, the Governor of Lagos and other key Government officials during the pre-Ramadan lecture.
