On Tuesday, agents from the Kaduna State Police Command killed two bandits and recovered two AK 47 assault rifles in the Birnin Gwari axis.
In a statement made on Thursday in Kaduna, the command’s spokesperson, ASP Mohammed Jalige, acknowledged the development.
“In furtherance of its sustained onslaught against banditry in Kaduna, particularly in the Birnin Gwari axis, the command recorded another success on Tuesday May 31,” Jalige stated.
“Two bandits were neutralised, and two AK 47 assault rifles were recovered, while several other bandits were shot.”
According to him, the action was prompted by distress calls received on the same day at 1600 hours, indicating that a big group of bandits had assaulted Kimdi village in Birnin Gwari LGA “in their ignoble mission to kidnap people.”
“The Command immediately dispatched a nearby team of crack operatives to the location to repel the attackers, and an exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the neutralisation of two of the bandits and the recovery of two AK 47 assault rifles.”
“The command is not unmindful of the security challenges, particularly around Birnin Gwari axis, and alongside the state government and other security agencies, the command is working to contain bandits.
”This is to ensure that the sanctity of human lives is adequately protected at all times.”
He said that the command’s and other sister agencies’ recent accomplishments demonstrated that “no effort is spared in prosecuting the war against criminal elements.”
Mr. Yekini Ayoku, the Commissioner of Police (CP), has called on all stakeholders and communities affected to maintain restraint, according to Jalige.
“Security is unquestionably everyone’s business,” he said, “but unguarded communication has the potential to derail the ongoing concerted efforts to reduce the negative impact of these challenges.”
