Three Dowen College students have been arrested in connection with the suspected murder of Sylvester Oromoni, according to Lagos State Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu.
This was stated by him during a Channels TV interview.
Sylvester, a 12-year-old boy, died after allegedly being bullied by his classmates.
On Tuesday, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, stated that three of the five pupils named in connection with the event have already been apprehended, while the other two are still on the loose.
It will be recalled that the late Sylvester Oromoni’s parents said their son named five older pupils who reportedly tormented and assaulted him for refusing to join a cult group at the school before his death.
Three kids accused of being engaged in the alleged torture of the 12-year-old student of the school in Lekki, Lagos, visited the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba in Lagos on Tuesday for questioning.
Meanwhile, late Oromoni passed away last week as a result of injuries sustained after being allegedly attacked by senior students.
After word of his death made the rounds in the media, the tragedy sparked outrage, with numerous activists and celebrities calling for the perpetrators to be prosecuted.
The family of late Senator Buruji Kashamu, whose son, Adewale, was claimed to be engaged in the case, had denied his involvement, stating he was simply Sylvester’s school parent.
On Monday, the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, South-West Zone, established a fact-finding committee to investigate the situation, promising to take up the case and guarantee that justice is served.
