The senator can be seen speaking to a gathering of fans at a stadium in a video that Chief Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, President (Iyaloja-General) of the Market Women Association, uploaded on Twitter.

“The youth of Lagos State and of Nigeria, I address you. Social media is good but it’s good for you to seek for proper information,” she said.

“You always rely on the technology so much that you don’t really know the truth. The truth is doctored on technology. When you want to know people, the technology too will give you the right information.”

Her comments came only two days after the much-anticipated rebuttal from the APC presidential candidate to claims of identity theft and ill-gotten wealth, among other things.

Tinubu has also been accused of avoiding scrutiny as the 2023 election campaigns heat up because he has failed to attend town halls and other similar events in Nigeria other than those hosted by his party.

At a Monday visit at Chatham House in London, Tinubu argued that his academic, career, and birth records were all consistent, and that anyone who disagreed with him were wasting their time and money.

The 70-year-old Tinubu called the inquiry “inquisitive” and stated that his birth was “dated March 29, 1952” in response to a request for clarification on a few matters pertaining to his formative years.

“They (the critics) are now persuaded that they wasted their money and their time because I’ve had a really positive life experience and a consistent record in school and at the university. The transcript and the record both show March 1952,” he said.

After the incident, the former governor of Lagos State told the BBC in an interview that those who were critical of his wealth were motivated by envy and that, since leaving office in 2007, he hasn’t received any government contracts or appointments.

Since then, Tinubu, who served as president from 1999 to 2007, has a say in who is elected governor of the nation’s commercial hub.

“I am not denying my wealth. I was the most investigated, the most accused governor in the opposition for eight years and since I left the office, I have not taken any government appointment, no government contract,” he said.
