Ikpeazu said that if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had performed well while in power, Nigerians would not have supported the All Progressives Congress (APC). Adolphus Wabara, the acting chairman of the PDP board of trustees (BoT), led some board members on a visit to the governor at his country home in Umuobiakwa.
Ikpeazu emphasised that sincere reconciliation is required for the party to prevail in the elections of 2023 in response to the crises roiling the organisation.
In order to prevent a repeat of what they went through in 2015, he stated the PDP has to analyse the recent events that have taken place.

“This country is where we are heading because of our incompetence in the things we did not perform properly; else, we would not have initially turned to the APC,”
“We are not in the same place we were in 2015. We need to look at the variables that have changed and respond to these variables and dynamics accordingly.
“We need to remain hungry for power so that our adrenaline level will remain optimum and drive us towards attaining that goal.
“All countries in this world that have risen from the ashes of civil war, quarrels, and bitter clashes are countries that did genuine truth and reconciliation. I pray that we would realise that there is no half measure to victory in politics.”
Wabara asserted that the party crisis will be addressed on his behalf.
In order to bring peace back to the party, he said that the board would meet with state governors and other key players.

Ikpeazu is a well-liked party participant, according to Wabara, who also noted that his contributions are crucial to fostering the PDP’s expansion.
The demand for the ouster of Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national leader, is one of the difficulties the organisation is dealing with.
Ayu has been urged to resign from his post on the grounds that the PDP presidential candidate and national chairman cannot be from the same zone, particularly by Rivers governor Nyesom Wike.
To address this and appease irate party members, stakeholders have conducted a number of talks.
Ayu can only be ousted as party chairman when the PDP constitution is changed, according to Atiku Abubukar, the PDP presidential candidate, who was speaking at a meeting with party stakeholders on Wednesday in Oyo state.
