Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy Philip Shaibu on Tuesday in Benin, announced their resignation from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

Governor Obaseki made the announcement while briefing the press after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja to discuss issue relating to his disqualification from contesting the June 22, APC primary.
The Governor noted that his resignation from the party is with immediate effect and will make announcement of his next line of action soon.
Governor Obaseki also urge the resident of Edo state to remain calm and law abiding citizens which they are mostly known for.
In his contribution, the Deputy Governor of Edo state Mr. Philip Shaibu said “it is with pain that I am leaving the APC I help to build. It is very unfortunate that we have o resign from party we all laboured for.
“I resigned today with pains and I am resigning to take my destiny in my hand.
But by God’s grace , where Governor Godwin Obaseki goes I go and by the grace of God we shall conquer”.
