Nnamdi Kanu, the arrested leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has sent encouraging messages to his friends and followers.
InsightnaijaTV reports that Aloy Ejimakor, the IPOB leader’s lead attorney, revealed this in a tweet on his Twitter handle on Thursday.
After prior visits were canceled, Ejimakor alleged that the IPOB leader’s lawyers paid him a visit on Thursday at the Department of State Service (DSS) headquarters in Abuja.
According to the lawyer, Kanu urged his friends and followers to remain hopeful about his freedom and the quest for a sovereign Biafra nation.
The lawyer stated that the visitation was crucial because previous visits had been denied by the secret police.
“We just concluded a visitation with Onyendu Nnamdi Kanu. Today’s visitation is very important because of the previously aborted visitations. We had very fruitful interactions and mutually debriefed on all issues. He greets his followers and urged all to remain upbeat,” he said.
Meanwhile, it was total drama on Wednesday as a suspected rapist escaped from the Samuel Ilori Magistrates Court in the Agege area of Lagos State.
The suspect was arraigned before the court on Wednesday for allegedly raping a teenager.
It was gathered that the court ordered the suspect to be remanded in prison custody.
The suspected rapist was being processed for remand when he reportedly escaped from the court premises.
A source that spoke with Punch said, “The suspect was brought to court by the police and he was remanded.
“He had been taken to a holding cell by the police when it was discovered that he had not been properly processed.
“As the police and the prison warders were perfecting the arrangement, he used the opportunity to jump on a vehicle from where he scaled the court fence and escaped.”
The incident was confirmed by a trader in the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
