Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara states sued the federal government over its naira redesign policy, and the Supreme Court will soon rule on their case.
The complaint was filed by 16 states of the Federation to contest the legality or otherwise of the adoption of the policy, and they are asking the supreme court to nullify and set aside the policy since it is putting innocent Nigerians through hardship.

On February 22, Judge John Inyang Okoro, who presided over a seven-member panel of Justices, set today for the court to announce its ruling on the lawsuit.
They demanded that President Muhammadu Buhari’s order be revoked on the grounds that he had introduced and carried out the policy without consulting the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The Federal Government, for its part, contested the Apex Court’s jurisdiction on the grounds that the CBN was not made a party to the case and that the CBN should be the target of the policy disagreement in order to have the case transferred to the Federal High Court.
Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, and Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle are present in court to see the verdict.
