Muslim Community Inspect Compliance To COVID-19 Protocol

In other to ensure compliance on the prevention of COVID-19 pandemic, the Muslim Community of Lagos has embarked on a sensitization and inspection tour to enlighten people on the need to contain the spread of coronavirus in the Country.

Recall, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu lifted the ban placed on religious gathering in the wake of Covid-19 in the State directing Mosques to open from Friday 7th of August 2020 while Churches start services from Sunday 9th of August 2020, and both worship centres are to operate with half of its Capacity.

Speaking during the tour, the Chairman, Committee on COVID-19,
Dr. Naheem Adesina Ekemode said the inspection became important as a result of speculations from some quarters indicating that the disease is of the rich.

Dr. Ekemode who express satisfaction with the level of compliance in some of the mosques visited, charged Nigerians to maintain good hygiene and cooperate with Government at all levels in other to contain the spread of the virus.

In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Ikorodu Central Mosque, Alhaji Seifudeen Ally Olowooribi urge every Muslim umah to comply with the directives of Government, as stated in the Holy Quran that all Muslims should abide by the directives of their leaders (Government).

He also commended members of the delegate for their unrelenting effort in ensuring full compliance to the COVID-19 prevention protocols.

Alhaji Olowooribia also enjoined parents to inculcate good morals and act of respect for elders in their wards/children in other to have a peaceful society.

In his Contribution, the Chief Imam of Oriwu Central Mosque, Imam Yahya Olorunoshebi Oshoala called on youths to divert their energy to something productive and impact positively to the development of the Country rather than engaging in crime.

He also appeal to Government to enhance its efforts in protecting the life and properties of the citizens.

Imam Oshoala added that Government should provide more equipment such as face mask, thermometer, sanitizers in designated places of easy access to the people.

In a remark, the head of media; Alhaji Tajudeen Uzamot explained that the visit will cover all the zones in Lagos State, noting that places such as Lagos Central Mosque, Ikeja, Ikorodu and many others have been visited.

However, there is a high level of compliance in most of the mosque visited so far.
