Joe Ajaero, national president of the NLC, and Festus Osifo, president of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), were the representatives of organised labour.

The NLC asked that before talks with the Federal Government could resume after several hours of meetings, the Federal Government must restore the status quo by capping the price of fuel.

Joe Ajaero, the national president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, denounced the elimination of the subsidy and said that the status quo will return before any official interaction with the NLC to defend the Nigerian labour and give further remedies.

The NLC argued that the Federal Government had not discussed any palliative measures for Nigerians and that this was why the most recent statement was rejected.

The union announced that it has made the decision to meet again with its members to identify the best course of action. Alake, on the other hand, praised the meeting and said that discussions would go on. He hoped that the parties’ subsequent delayed meeting would result in a fair resolution.
