As part of efforts by the Government to ensure that manpower development in the nation’s maritime industry is further taken to greater heights, three state of the art Simulators, have been acquired by the Management of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, MAN, in Oron, Akwa Ibom State.
The facilities comprise Full Mission Bridge Simulator, Full Mission Engine room Simulator and a Multi functional Classroom Simulator, which has the capacity to sit up to thirty Cadets in a work station.
This was made known by the Rector of the Academy, Retired Navy Commodore Doja Effedua in an interview in Lagos.
Commodore Effedua retired, explained that the need to upgrade facilities at the Academy cannot be overemphasized as all efforts are being made to equate the facilities at the Institution with those found abroad, thereby underscoring no reason for the continuous expense of scarce foreign exchange to train Cadets abroad.
Meanwhile there has been widespread commendations to the Management of the Academy, by some Master Mariners and Ship Owners, who confirmed that the latest facilities would surely aid learning and boost Cadet’s competency to make them employable in the global Maritime industry.
One of the Maritime Experts, Ship Captain Adewale Ishiola said that, with these new facilities, Cadets churned out from the Institution, would be rated higher and able to compete for foreign job opportunities anywhere in the world.
