Rt Hon Ahmed Muhammed, the Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, and three other principal officers of the House have been dismissed.

They were removed during an emergency meeting in Lokoja on Friday.

The Majority Leader, Bello Hassan Balogun, the Deputy Majority Leader, Idris Ndako, and the Chief Whip, Hon Edoko Moses Ododo, were all removed from office and afterwards suspended from the House.

The officers had been accused of serious misbehavior and arbitrary use of authority, which led to their impeachment.

17 MPs signed a resolution of urgent significance read by Hon. Enema Paul, member of the Dekina/Okura State Constituency, to remove Hon Ahmed Mohammed and suspend three other major officials in the house.

The house, on the other hand, has named Alfa Momoh Rabiu, a legislator from Ankpa II, as the new Deputy Speaker.

Hon. Muktar Bajeh (Majority Leader), Umar Isah Tanimu (Deputy Majority Leader), Enema Paul (Deputy Chief Whip), and Ahmed Dahiru are the other new principal officials elected (Chief Whip).

Prince Mathew Kolawole, the Speaker, has previously announced the dissolution of all House Standing Committees.

Security operatives from the Nigerian Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Department of State Services were stationed at the Assembly complex prior to the impeachment process.

Ahmed Muhammed, the lawmaker representing Akpa I in the Kogi State House of Assembly, may be recalled.

During the impeachment procedure, just 17 of the 25 MPs were present, according to reports.
