Umar Audu, an undercover journalist, detailed how his degree certificate, which he received in six weeks from a Cotonou-based university in the Benin Republic, was delivered to him like pizza.
Audu revealed a thriving certificate racketeering network in Benin Republic and Togo that specialises in selling university degrees to interested purchasers in Nigeria in an investigative piece titled “How Daily Nigerian reporter bagged Cotonou varsity degree in 6 weeks.”

He claims that throughout the course of the investigation, he never left the nation’s borders and that the certificate was brought to him for a very reasonable price, much like pizza.
He went on to say that a similar probe in 2018 led to the Federal Government making certain choices, and that the practice has continued despite the government’s announcements.
Audu, who received a certificate and transcript with the authentic scan code of Ecole Superieure de Gestion et de Technologies, ESGT, claimed on Channels Television that it was the same fake university certificate he used to file for and participate in the mandatory one-year National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, programme without being caught.
“This certificate will be delivered to you just like you ordered for a pizza or something and you give them your location and it is delivered to you. That was what motivated me to conduct this investigation,” Audu stated.
