President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday assured Nigerians that the government has put together fresh security strategies that will ensure students are no longer kidnaped from their schools by bandits and other criminals.

The assurance was given by the Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika who led the federal government delegation on a sympathy visit to the Zamfara State government over the abduction of some female students from Government Girls Science Secondary School, Jangebe.

He however assured that the Jangebe episode will be the last of such happenings as the government has developed fresh security measures to end all forms of criminal activities in the country.

“The President is saddened by the abduction of the students from Jangebe and reassures you that the government has all the resources and wherewithal to contain these criminals.

“Buhari also commended Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara’s efforts against armed banditry and promised a continued support to bringing lasting peace.

“The federal government will continue its partnership with Zamfara government and its citizens in resolving the security challenges facing the state,” Sirika said.

In his response, the Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle appreciated the concern by the President and the federal government delegation. He also expressed optimism that the abducted girls will soon regain their freedom.

“I strongly believe in the president and his effort in fighting all forms of insurgence and urge him to improve on the nation’s security.

”This is by ensuring synergy among the security agencies so that confrontations with criminals can be coordinated on ground and air simultaneously.”

“We are using the leaders of the repentant bandits to rescue the schoolgirls from the kidnappers.

“Very soon we are going to witness the release of the abductees,” the governor said.

InsightnaijaTV reports that other officials on the federal government delegation included the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajiya Sa’adiya Umar Farouq, and Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Pauline Tallen.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has said that corruption is solely responsible for the security challenges facing the country.

Bello made this known on Saturday when he received a team of ex-Nigerian internationals, led by Augustine Eguavoen.

Other members of the team are Austin “Jay Jay” Okocha, Victor Agali, Taribo West, Ifeanyi Udeze, Victor Ikpeba, Tijani Babangida, and Garba Lawal.

The governor said corruption is the bane of security in the land and the new EFCC chairman’s vigour and youthfulness will help in the fight to curb it.
