The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has stopped all police officers from executing certain security activities, particularly roadblocks in mufti, unless they are wearing proper and recognized Police Uniforms.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, announced this on Twitter on Friday.

He stated that the IGP’s instruction was motivated by the desire to clean up Police Operational Engagements and improve human relations.

Stop and Search at Checkpoints, Regular Patrol Duties, and Special Patrols are among the operations that officers must not execute without wearing approved uniforms, according to Muyiwa.

The DFPRO said, “Ladies and gentlemen, we commend you for ur understanding and support at all times.

“The IGP has ordered that every policeman standing on the road for stop and search, checkpoint, or/and patrol duties must be on approved uniform for easy identification and authority.

“Every police uniform must bear name and force number for other ranks.

“We have taken this step to sanitise our operational engagements and have better human relations.”
