Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s candidate for governor of Lagos State, has claimed that he was denied the chance to run for office in the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP.
In addition, Rhodes-Vivour criticised Dr. Abdulazeez Adediran, commonly known as Jandor, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, for not choosing him to be his running mate during an appearance with the Arise News morning show on Thursday.
This information was provided by the LP’s candidate for governor in response to Adediran’s alleged Wednesday claim that Gbadebo would not prevail in the election.
On Wednesday, Adediran had contended that Rhodes-Vivour was involved in two ongoing legal proceedings. Also, those who supported Peter Obi, the LP presidential candidate, on the basis of their race and religion, would not support him.

All of Adediran’s assertions, though, are “a bunch of misinformation and lying,” Rhodes-Vivour said. He said that the PDP leaders intended to put both of them on the ticket, but when Adediran emerged, he decided to run with someone else instead.
In response to the controversy, Rhodes-Vivour remarked, “But a party is about consensus building and moving forward. There was an understanding. Sadly, he lies about it and denies it.
“He will lie about it on air and go and apologise to Chief Bode George, and BOT members, people like Chief Bucknor-Akerele, and Akintoye in PDP and he will go to prostrate there and say sorry for offending them.”
“The fact of the matter is that there was no sort of imposition. If he was so confident, he should have said from the get-go that ‘I have someone else I would like to be deputy. And I want us to run. Let us contest.’
“I was denied the opportunity to contest after building the structure for four years, after spending so much money on a ticket. I was denied the opportunity to contest because he went out and told these leaders that I want to work with this person as my deputy. Afterwards, the whole process now changed,” Rhodes-Vivor said.
