Mrs Asabe Mohammed Koriya, wife of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Vice Chairman of Gwargwada Ward, Kuje Area Council, has been kidnapped by gunmen.
On Friday, February 4, about 5 p.m., the politician’s wife was kidnapped near Rubochi in the Federal Capital Territory’s Gwargwada-Gwombe junction.
After attending a political ceremony in the neighboring Gwargwada village, Koriya and eight other abductees were returning to Gwombe and Pesu villages.
Salihu Ibrahim, a relative of one of the deceased, said the gunmen were over 30 strong and equipped with firearms, barricading the road with pieces of wood. They summoned motorcycles and escorted the victims into the woods.
He said; “But two other persons who were on a motorcycle escaped. Upon sighting the kidnappers, they abandoned the motorcycle and fled into the bush but the kidnappers set the motorcycle ablaze.”
Alhaji Hussaini Agabi Mam, the Agabe of Gwargwada-Ugbada, confirmed the kidnapping of 11 individuals, including the wife of the area’s PDP ward chairman.
He said; “Three of the victims are from my place, four from Pesu while the remaining victims are from the neighbouring Gwombe village.”
