The late Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamide Adeyemi’s Janazah (funeral) prayer was held on his remains at the old palace in Oyo Town.
Janazah is an Islamic prayer said for the deceased before they are laid to rest.
Sheikh Moshood Ajokidero, the Chief Imam of Oyoland, led the prayer.
Islamic clerics, sympathisers, and politicians were among those who went.
Following the prayer, Ajokidero told reporters that the dead had contributed his fair share to the growth of Oyo town, Oyo State, and Nigeria.
The Chief Imam stated that Adeyemi had a beneficial impact on many people’s lives and would be remembered for his good actions forever.
He urged the living to always have a constructive impact on mankind, noting that everyone will be remembered for their actions, good or bad.
