As part of his endeavour to guarantee a better educational system in his community, the Executive Chairman of Lagos Island East LCDA, Hon. Dr. Muibi Alade Folawiyo, presented sixteen sets of laptops to one of the three computer facilities in the LCDA.

The occurrence that happened on July 10, 2024, at the computer centre of Christ Church Cathedral Primary School brought to mind how computers have changed over time, going from being merely helpful tools to being essential components of the teaching and learning process.

According to the Chairman, the idea behind the presentation of laptops to schools within the Council is to introduce students to computer usage and enhance their ability to learn in a way that meets international standards.

“As we embrace the digital age at Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area, we recognise that computers are not just tools but enablers of a brighter, more technologically proficient future for our pupils,” said Folawiyo, who pledged to equip the two other computer centres within the LCDA.

“Lagos Island East is committed to fostering innovation by integrating computers into education, ensuring that our pupils emerge as leaders in the digital era” .

“Computers enhance the learning experience, equip pupils with vitals skills and prepare them for future challenges. By providing our students with a well-rounded education that incorporates technology, we enable them to prosper in this dynamic environment”.

“Computers have revolutionised nearly every part of our lives in the fast-paced, technologically driven world we live in today, and education is no different. Computers are now considered essential components of the learning process rather than just supplemental tools in education”.

“The digital age has ushered in a new era of education where the importance of computers can not be overstated” .

The chairman promised to embark on the maintenance of the school premises during the holiday to make it more befitting for the pupils when they resume for the next academic session.

Alhaji Qudus Abari, the Education Secretary, thanked the Executive Chairman for his generous gift and urged him to extend it to the other two computer centres.

The well-attended event featured a number of noteworthy dignitaries.
