In Lagos, the nation’s commercial hub, a structure at the Balogun Market was completely destroyed by fire once more.
Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the permanent secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA), verified on Sunday, October 09, 2022 that the fire, which was reported to have originated from one of the market buildings on Martins Street in Lagos, was true.
According to her, “The agency’s responders alongside the Federal Fire Service, Lagos State Fire service, and UBA Fire Services are working together to put out the fire and prevent its spread to nearby buildings.”
“The Agency responded to distress calls concerning the above location and upon arrival at the scene, a shop on the top floor of a four-storey building was found to be gutted by fire.

“Further information gathered revealed that clothing materials were stored inside the shop. Fortunately, there was no casualty involved in the incident.”
The LASEMA boss claimed that garment supplies kept in the store were burned, despite the fact that no lives were lost in the blaze.
This is not the first time fire will be gutting the Balogun Market. The market suffered severe fire damage earlier this year. The same market saw fire outbreaks in November 2019, 2020, and 2021 as well, resulting in the destruction of goods worth millions of naira.
