The Oyo State High Court in Ibadan on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 rejected a request by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami (SAN) to stop hearing a suit instituted against the Federal Government by Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemi also known as Sunday Igboho).
Adeyemi had filed the suit challenging the invasion of his Ibadan residence on July 1, 2021 by operatives of the Department of State Services(DSS), a Federal Government agency and the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and the Department of State Security (DSS) were barred from arresting, harassing, intimidating and blocking bank accounts of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo by Justice Ladiean Akintola of the Oyo High Court on Wednesday, August 4, 2021.
The motion followed the originating motion seeking N500bn damages for invasion of his house in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on July.
Malami had in his motion on notice raised a preliminary objection against Adeyemi’s suit. He argued that the Oyo State High Court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the matter.
Malami asked for a time extension to enable him to file further processes in opposition to Igboho’s application but the motion was opposed by Igboho’s counsel, led by Chief Yomi Alliyu (SAN) because time is of the essence
The Attorney-General was represented in the Court by a team of 10 lawyers led by Abdulahi Abubakar.
