The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, on Wednesday, retracted an alleged unflattering statement made about Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja and apologized to the Nigeria Barr Association, NBA.
While speaking to over 2,000 members of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, in Ebonyi State during a solidarity demonstration held at the Udensi roundabout to reaffirm their support and devotion to the governor, Umahi apologized.
He stated that he has mobilized over seventeen (17) Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) to appeal the judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo, in which he was dismissed for defecting from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that NBA President, Olumide Akpata, in a statement on Wednesday, described Umahi’s response as “impunity of the highest order and executive rascality taken too far.”
The NBA, according to Akpata, has no stake in the result of the lawsuit in question and will continue to avoid political politics.
