Governor Mai Mala Buni, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress’s Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Committee, said on Thursday that all actions done in his absence by the CECPC interim Chairman, Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger State, are still legal.
Buni made this clarification after some media outlets stated he dumped Bello’s national convention sub-committee list in an apparent bid to show his authority following President Muhammadu Buhari’s endorsement.
Recall that President Buhari stood firm on Wednesday, asking that Buni be allowed to remain as the party’s chairman despite a botched attempt by APC governors to oust him after he (Buni) departed the country for medical treatment.
In a rebuttal released on Thursday by Buhari’s assistant, Bashir Ahmad, Buni slammed claims that Bello’s actions while he was away had been reversed.
Buni, who is also the Yobe State Governor, stated in the refutal statement that “all activities that were done in my absence remain valid and binding.”

Refutal
This is to bring to the notice of all stakeholders and members of the party that purported suspension of some activities initiated and executed by the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee under the acting Chairman and Niger State Governor, H.E Muhammed Sanni Bello, is NOT TRUE.
Therefore, all activities that were done in my absence remain valid and binding. All party stakeholders and members are hereby advised to disregard the previous statement discarding the activities of the committee under the leadership of the Acting Chairman.
It could be recalled that I duly transmitted power to His Excellency, the Niger State Governor, H.E Muhammadu Sanni Bello to enable me undergo medical attention. Therefore, all actions and measures taken by the committee under his leadership as Acting Chairman, remain effective.
The party calls for support and understanding to move the party forward to a successful convention slated for March 26th, 2022.
