Bolt, the leading ride-hailing platform, has established a new “Bolt Driver’s League” competition for new and existing Bolt drivers in Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa, as part of its commitment to drivers while campaigning for customer service excellence. The “Bolt Driver’s League” is a follow-up to the giant bonus challenge.

Bolt’s dedication to expanding and facilitating mobility in Sub-Saharan Africa while simultaneously strengthening the economy with more earning opportunities is exemplified through this competition. The competition will run for ten weeks, with four winners in Nigeria and Ghana (for a total of eight in West Africa) and three in South Africa receiving a brand new car, as well as consolation prizes for other contestants.

Speaking about the contest, Bolt Country Manager in Nigeria, Femi Akin-Laguda, said, “At, bolt we continue to make drivers central to our business and do not take their commitment for granted in a competitive marketplace. We usually try to wrap up the year with a big statement of our appreciation and reward them for continuing to choose Bolt as their favorite ride hailing platform. This year’s Bolt Driver’s League is an example of our commitment to incentivising both existing and new drivers and is a major expansion on the program we ran last year. I am also really excited that we have been able to add a unique reward for our amazing female drivers this time around. We will continue to work hard to retain the trust and loyalty we have earned over the years by fulfilling our promise to keep improving the overall experience for every driver.”

The Bolt Driver’s League is divided into three sections: a new drivers’ league, a women’s league, and an established drivers’ league, each with its own set of goals to achieve. Goals will be assigned to drivers in these leagues in the form of completed rides and driver ratings. Drivers who score these goals will be entered into a drawing for a token toward a grand prize. The more tokens they earn, the more likely they are to win.

Three automobiles, one from each league, will be awarded through a token system. In addition, the overall top driver in the country will receive an additional car depending on the number of trips taken and high ratings received over the period. Drivers will receive regular updates on the number of tokens they have accumulated throughout the competition.

This isn’t the first time the e-hailing behemoth has acted in this manner. Bolt launched the “Mega Bonus Challenge” in Nigeria in 2020, following the implementation of the lockdown, to provide drivers with two brand new cars, gift hampers, N800,000 in fuel vouchers, and household appliances.
