The Ballon d’Or will no longer be an annual event, but rather a summer event, organizers said on Friday.
According to France Football, players’ performances will now be evaluated during a season (August-July) rather than a calendar year (January-December).
InsightnaijaTV learned that the modifications mean that the next edition of the individual player award will be for the 2021/22 season rather than 2022.
The forthcoming World Cup will also count for the 2022/23 season, according to the organizers.

The Ballon door award has traditionally been given to the best player of the year.
There has been no change from its beginning to this point.

A clearer set of regulations: The Ballon d’Or rules haven’t altered much since its establishment, and the criteria are regularly contested.
